Terms of use

The honest summary: the site is free and informational, and no safety decision — travelling, evacuating, cancelling, going up on a roof — should be made on what you read here alone.

What this site is

A reference site about weather, the sky and nature. We gather public data from official agencies — forecast and UV index from MET Norway, earthquakes from the USGS, cyclones from NOAA’s National Hurricane Center, fire detections from NASA FIRMS, air quality from the EPA’s AirNow and from Canada’s AQHI, pollen from the Deutscher Wetterdienst, solar activity and aurora from the Space Weather Prediction Center, climate normals from NASA POWER — and we show every figure with its source, its licence and a link to the origin.

We are not a weather service, we issue no warnings, we run no model of our own and we have no relationship with any of the agencies named. We also sell nothing and are paid by nobody to feature any place.

This is not an official warning. In an emergency, follow civil protection

This is the most important part of these terms. The forecast, the earthquake listing, the hurricane track, the fire detection, the smoke plume, the air quality reading and the UV index you read here are reference INFORMATION, refreshed on a cycle from public data. They do NOT replace, pre-empt or override the official alert from the civil protection or emergency management authority of your country, state or city.

When there is imminent risk, what counts is what that authority says, through its own channels — sirens, official text messages, radio, the government app. A static site cannot keep up with a fast event: a quake appears in the USGS feed minutes after it happens, and our page only refreshes on its own cycle. Use this site to understand and to prepare, never as a last-minute warning.

Health, exposure and personal decisions

UV index, pollen and air quality affect health. We show the official figure and the published scale of the agency that measures it, with what each band means. That is public health information, not a medical consultation, and it knows nothing about your medical history, your skin type, your allergy or your medication.

Anyone with asthma, an allergy, heart or lung disease, anyone pregnant, and anyone caring for a small child or an older person should decide with their own health professional, not with a web page.

About accuracy

Figures are copied from the sources without any recalculation by us, and every page states the date and time of collection. Even so a source can contain an error, can revise a figure later (the USGS revises magnitudes, the National Hurricane Center revises tracks), can go offline, and a forecast model can simply be wrong — a forecast is a probability, not a promise.

When a source does not answer, the page says the data is unavailable instead of showing a stale number as if it were current. A page without verified data stays online, but it is not indexed on Google and it carries no advertising.

What you may do with it

Read it, print it, quote it and send the link to anyone. If you quote a figure, name the agency it came from too — that is what gives the number weight, not us.

You may not copy the whole site or scrape the pages in bulk to build a lookalike. The official data is public and you can fetch it at the source under each licence; the written text, the charts, the structure and the translations are ours.

Advertising and outside links

The site is paid for by advertising. Ads are served by third parties and never depend on what we choose to cover: there is no "sponsored" city and no text traded for money.

Links to official agencies, to Wikimedia and to YouTube lead off this site, and what happens there is not under our control.

Changes and governing law

These terms can change when the site changes. The version that applies is the one published on this page.

Any dispute follows Brazilian law, that being the country of the person responsible for the site.
