The 2026 Easter dates and the holidays that move with them, in the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

How the date is worked out

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon falling on or after the March equinox, worked out with the ecclesiastical computus of the Gregorian calendar. Every other date on the list moves with it, by a fixed number of days.

What it is

Good Friday and Easter Monday are bank holidays in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, in Ireland (Easter Monday only), in Australia and in New Zealand. In Canada Good Friday is a general holiday and Easter Monday is a federal public-service day.

In the United States neither day is a federal holiday under 5 U.S.C. § 6103: markets close on Good Friday by exchange rule, not by statute.

Easter can fall between 22 March and 25 April. Orthodox Easter usually falls on a different date, because most Orthodox churches run the computus on the Julian calendar.
